Utah Jazz Star Donovan Mitchell
Utah Jazz Receive: G Markelle Fultz, F/C Jonathan Isaac, 2023 First-Round Pick (ORL), 2025 First-Round Pick (ORL), 2027 First-Round Pick (ORL)
Orlando Magic Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
The Orlando Magic were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season. With that in mind, we won’t be writing any trades that land them Kevin Durant, or any other aging superstar here. Cashing in future assets when they’re not ready to contend would be shortsighted.
With that said, Donovan Mitchell is likely the best fit that’s realistically available to the Magic this summer. He’s only 25, giving him ample time to grow with this young Magic core and the Utah Jazz are willing to move him.
He also feels like a good fit basketball-wise. It’s hard to say who would start alongside him in the backcourt between Suggs and Anthony, but fit-wise, Suggs seems like the right man. He struggled in his rookie year, but he did flash high potential in defense and playmaking. The former quality is a weakness for Donovan Mitchell, and the latter will enhance his game.
Meanwhile, Cole Anthony ought to be a serious contender for the Sixth Man of the Year award in that event. Most importantly, Donovan Mitchell’s elite scoring ability ought to be a perfect complement to Banchero’s playmaking. He’ll give him a reliable target to hone his playmaking chops.

It may be far-fetched, but if Orlando wanted to throw their hat into the Donovan Mitchell ring with the Utah Jazz, they could certainly justify that decision.
