It wasn’t so long ago that Gordon Hayward’s name would have been right up there with Donovan Mitchell’s as a star on the open market.

Ironically, Hayward played for Donovan Mitchell’s Jazz at the time. He was beginning to emerge as a do-it-all playmaking forward who’d reach perennial All-Star status when he departed for Boston ahead of 2017-18.

Unfortunately, everything changed about five minutes into his Celtics debut. Hayward suffered a horrific leg injury that kept him off the shelf for the entirety of the season. He’s never quite looked the same since.

Furthermore, he hasn’t been able to stay healthy since that fateful day either.
