Philadelphia 76ers Make Bold Andrew Wiggins Trade

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F Andrew Wiggins
One downside of building an elite NBA team is that it begins to get expensive. The Golden State Warriors are about to get downright unaffordable.
Jordan Poole will soon be due for a rookie extension. Given his play in 2021-22, it’s likely to be a fat one. Meanwhile, Draymond Green will be eligible for an extension after next season himself. He’s on record as saying he’s worth a max deal.
That’s debatable. With that said, he’s certainly worthy of a hefty contract. If the Warriors retain both, their books will get altogether untenable without making some changes.
Andrew Wiggins feels like the odd man out. He had a great season in 2021-22, but Poole is substantially younger, and Green is too integral to this team’s fabric. This Philadelphia 76ers trade won’t allow the Golden State Warriors to avoid the luxury tax altogether – the books will look bleak next season in the last year of Tobias Harris’ contract.
