Here’s a question: are on-court risks more concerning, or are off-court ones?
It’s a particularly relevant question in light of this proposal. After all, the 24-year-old Michael Porter Jr. has looked the part of a star player when he’s been healthy enough to get on the floor. Unfortunately, that’s been all-too-rare of an occurrence.
With that said, he’d be a nice addition to this Nets roster if the Denver Nuggets were open to moving him.
Assuming that they also moved Kevin Durant, a foundation of Ben Simmons, Porter Jr., and whoever they add in the Durant trade could be interesting. In particular, Porter Jr.’s elite frontcourt spacing will be a boon for the non-shooting, playmaking Simmons.
As for the Denver Nuggets, they’d be assembling one of the most offensively gifted backcourts in the league here as well. With that said, pairing Irving with Jamal Murray wouldn’t make sense for every team. After all, they’re both score-first point guards.

On the other hand, for a Denver Nuggets team with perhaps the best passing big man in the history of the sport in reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, the fit makes perfect sense.
