Dallas Mavericks Receive: F/C Julius Randle
New York Knicks Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, G/F Josh Green, 2025 First-Round Pick (DAL)
This Dallas Mavericks deal has the New York Knicks returning to business as usual.
In fact, if adding draft capital and improving their cap situation are the Knicks’ main priorities, this trade checks both boxes. By that logic, it’s the best deal we’ve proposed for them so far.
Dinwiddie’s contract is a hair less expensive than Randle’s, but it runs half as long. Meanwhile, the Knicks may as well take a flier on Josh Green. He’s an energetic, athletic wing who will be one of the league’s best 3-and-D players if he can get his shot to start falling.
As for the Dallas Mavericks, they’re looking to land Luka Doncic a true co-star in acquiring Randle. More than any other team in this piece, they’d have reason to think they could facilitate Randle’s return to accurate three-point shooting.
