Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal
If you haven’t noticed, the frontcourt in Dallas is getting awfully crowded.
Perhaps most notably, this team traded for Christian Wood already this summer. Reports are surfacing recently that suggest he may find himself with the second unit. We’ll see how that works out.
Meanwhile, they also signed JaVale McGee to start at center. His rim protection will be valuable for this team, but they still have the defensively versatile Maxi Kleber to accommodate.
None of which means they’re compelled to trade Dorian Finney-Smith. His 3-and-D skillset is a little different than what any of the other players we listed here bring to the table. With that said, it may take a backseat on this team’s priority list compared to secondary ball-handling.
