How This Trade Impacts Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies are right on the cusp of becoming legitimate contenders in the Western Conference. They finished second this season, as they are on the right path. No one would fault them if they want to stick to that path and continue growing organically.
However, if the opportunity presents itself to move closer to their ultimate goal of winning a championship, they will have to seriously consider it. Landing Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics would certainly help them do that.
Sliding Brown into Dillon Brooks’ spot in the rotation would be a sizable upgrade. Brown is a strong two-way player as well but is a much more efficient offensive player. The biggest loss would be Desmond Bane, but to acquire good talent you need to part with some.
Danny Green’s contract is a good bargaining chip for the Grizzlies to include in deals to match salary, which they do in this deal. After drafting two power forwards, Jake LaRavia and David Roddy, in the 2022 NBA Draft and already having Xavier Tillman Sr. and Brandon Clarke behind Jaren Jackson Jr. and Steven Adams, Killian Tillie is expendable.

The first-round picks are a nice sweetener in this deal. Memphis parts with two as they are only parting ways with one of their high-upside young players.
