Recently, the Utah Jazz decided that they may be willing to go all-in on their rebuild. After trading away Royce O’Neale and Rudy Gobert earlier this NBA offseason, they planned on rebuilding the roster around Donovan Mitchell.
Any team that was calling about Mitchell earlier in the offseason was turned away. But, they changed course and are now taking calls. To acquire him will not be cheap, however, as the Jazz are looking to get in return at least what they received from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Gobert, if not more.
The New York Knicks have been the team mentioned most as Mitchell’s landing spot. They have a collection of assets that would match up perfectly with the Jazz for a trade and have been in the market for an All-Star caliber player. However, negotiations have sometimes been slow-moving as the Knicks know they have the most to offer and no other team really gets close.
As a result, the Jazz have begun searching out other offers around the league with negotiations featuring the Knicks coming to a bit of a standstill. A few other potential suitors emerged, one of which was the Charlotte Hornets.
