He seemed to pick to contend for a ring in the last few teams that DeMarcus Cousins has signed with. That was the motivation for signing with the Golden State Warriors in 2018 and Los Angeles Lakers in 2019.
The 2020 Houston Rockets looked like contenders with James Harden still on the roster, but once they began bottoming out, Cousins was bought out and landed with the LA Clippers. This past season he started with the Milwaukee Bucks and ended with the Denver Nuggets.
If signing with a contender is of the utmost importance to him, Cousins could find his way to the Miami Heat. Miami is involved in some trade rumors for big names such as Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell, which would open up some roster spots. Cousins would make sense for Miami even if they don’t complete a blockbuster trade.
He has proven that he can produce even without a ton of minutes. Cousins’ per-36 minute stats are pretty on par with his All-Star seasons, especially his rebounding production. The Miami Heat wouldn’t need heavy minutes from him, as they just need a capable backup behind Bam Adebayo for 12-16 minutes per night.

Adding some offensive firepower to the frontcourt would be ideal for the Miami Heat. Too often in the postseason, it was Jimmy Butler or nothing. Having another player that can create some offense along with Tyler Herro would make them a more dangerous team.
