Boston Celtics Receive: F Kevin Durant
The last deal was easier to justify for the Brooklyn Nets. A package that’s largely based around draft capital is more appealing when so many of the picks you’re receiving were originally yours.
They’d employ their logic at their own peril. Doing so would prove that they’ve learned nothing from past mistakes. After all, when the Houston Rockets traded them Harden in exchange for a stockpile of picks, nobody expected the Nets to be in their current situation.
Meanwhile, the Nets aren’t strictly getting draft capital back here. All three of the players they’re receiving are bonafide building blocks.
Paired with Ben Simmons, Anunoby, Willams III and Trent Jr. could comprise the backbone of one of the best defenses in the entire NBA.
