Utah Jazz Receive: G Russell Westbrook, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAL), 2029 First-Round Pick (LAL)
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Mike Conley, F Bojan Bogdanovic, G Patrick Beverley

A caveat: since the Jazz recently signed Patrick Beverley, he can’t be moved until August 30th.

Of course, several iterations of this deal work for both sides. If the Lakers wanted to get it done now, Westbrook and one pick should be enough for Conley and Bogdanovic. With that said, if both sides are willing to be patient, this is likely a better deal.

On the Lakers’ end, giving up two distant firsts is significant. There’s ample reason to believe this team will be in the lottery by 2027, let alone 2029. LeBron James, bionic as he may be, will surely be retired. With Anthony Davis’ injury history, even he’s unlikely to be a star in this league by 2029.

On the other hand, the Lakers are like a rebellious teenager who just got their motorcycle license – they’re living for the moment. This trade gets them the floor-spacing and secondary creation that’s always maximized LeBron James.
