Boston Celtics
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G/F Jaylen Brown, G Derrick White, 2025 First-Round Pick (BOS), 2027 First-Round Pick (BOS), 2029 First-Round Pick (Swap – BOS)
Boston Celtics Receive: F Kevin Durant
Recent reports have suggested that the Boston Celtics have already offered a package that likely resembles this one. On the other hand, the Nets allegedly rejected – and made a counteroffer.
That counteroffer is said to have included Marcus Smart. The Celtics, to be sure, could justify adding Smart to their offer. With that said, they should probably avoid doing so at any cost.
After all, the Boston Celtics are fresh off of an NBA Finals appearance. Furthermore, they already added Malcolm Brogdon this summer. In theory, they don’t need to do anything drastic.
Moving Brown along with the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in exchange for a 33-year-old with some injury concerns is a high-risk proposition.

Meanwhile, the Nets should be content with this offer. Jaylen Brown is a 25-year-old, star player. Adding him, two first-round picks, and a swap at the cost of an aging player who’s already asked out should be a no-brainer, Smart or otherwise.
