LA Clippers: Should they upgrade at center or point guard?

We’ll say this for the LA Clippers: they don’t need any wings. Between Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Norman Powell, and Robert Covington, they’ve got the best rotation in the league at that position.

With that said, they could potentially upgrade at the point or at the 5. They don’t really need to: this team is stacked. Still, a better backup for Ivica Zubac or someone better than either John Wall or Reggie Jackson could be helpful.

Los Angeles Lakers: How many draft picks to attach to Russell Westbrook?

This was another simple decision to land on. Surely, the Lakers know they’ll have to attach sweeteners to Westbrook’s contract to move it. Everyone around the NBA knows that. Meanwhile, this team is low on draft capital, but they can move their 2026, 2027, and 2029 picks, although if they moved all 3, the 2027 pick would have to be a swap. How many are they willing to move?

Memphis Grizzlies: Win now, or win later?

This wouldn’t be a question for the Memphis Grizzlies if not for Jaren Jackson Jr.’s injury. They’d be trying to build on last year’s 56-win season. Unfortunately, he’s slated to miss 4 to 6 months. Now, the question is, should they press forward in trying to contend in 2022-23, or rebuild ahead of 2023-24?

Miami Heat: Should they push their chips in for a star?

The Miami Heat are frequently linked to stars like Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, and Kyrie Irving. That’s no surprise: they’re always linked to stars.

With that said, this team is low on assets. Their draft capital is slim. Unless they’re willing to trade one or both of Bam Adebayo and/or Tyler Herro, it’s hard to foresee their path to those big names. Trading either of their incumbent starts would not be a decision to make lightly.

Milwaukee Bucks: Should they do anything?

In 2020-21, the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA title. Last year, an injury to Khris Middleton robbed them of their opportunity to repeat that feat. Are we sure they wouldn’t have with a healthy Middleton? The Bucks have one of the most talented rosters in the NBA: standing pat may be the wisest choice.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Should they trade D’Angelo Russell?

The Minnesota Timberwolves already made their biggest move of the summer, acquiring Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz. Prior to that call, there had been trade chatter around D’Angelo Russell.

Arguably, landing Gobert should quiet it. After all, Russell functions best in the pick-and-roll, and Gobert is an elite finisher. On the other hand, getting the ball into the hands of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns may still be desirable.
