Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Kyle Lowry, G Max Strus, 2023 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected – MIA)
Miami Heat Receive: G Kyrie Irving
We told you the Brooklyn Nets wouldn’t be getting fair value.
Of course, not long ago, Kyle Lowry, a quality role player and a first-round pick may have been good value for Irving. That was before Lowry’s 2021-22 playoff performance. Frankly, it was dismal.
At 36, it may also be a new benchmark. In that event, Lowry stands to have one of the worst annual value contracts in the NBA next season. On the other hand, the wily veteran could have another quality year left in him.
In that event, he’s at least more reliable than Irving. In fact, Lowry has earned a reputation as a locker room leader in the NBA. For the Nets, the opportunity to reset their culture and land a first-round pick may be enough to part with Irving.
