Why The New Orleans Pelicans Do The Deal
Generally speaking, it’s understood that two-way teams win championships. With that said, if you’re going to be a one-way team, you want to excel on offense.
It’s hard to know how this Pelicans defense will look following this trade. They’d likely start Jaxson Hayes, Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, C.J. McCollum, and Donovan Mitchell.
Out of that group, only Hayes and Ingram qualify as positives on that end of the floor. Meanwhile, neither is likely to challenge for All-NBA selections either. Moving their best defender in Herb Jones doesn’t help either.
With that said: good god, the offense. The Pelicans should field the best attack in the league next year. That’s not an exaggeration.
