Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
There are actually two benefits for the Miami Heat in this trade.
The first, as we already alluded to, is getting off of Robinson’s contract. The Heat deemed him unplayable in the 2021-22 playoffs due to his defensive limitations. For this reason, they can’t be excited about paying him $16.9 million a season for the next four years.
This deal opens up their flexibility moving forward. With that said, there is a simpler reason for the Heat to do this deal – Bojan Bogdanovic is very good.
The Heat would be bringing in an elite floor-spacer who is capable of creating his own shot when called upon to. He’ll also replace the floor-spacing the Heat lost in P.J. Tucker’s departure.

He won’t replace his defense, but you can’t have it all. The Heat shouldn’t complain too much – unlike the Jazz, they’ve managed to avoid rebuilding for a long time.
