It’s never easy for an NBA front office to make the call to start rebuilding. General managers, like players, owners, and coaches, are competitive. 

Everyone wants to win. With that said, sometimes a team simply doesn’t have enough talent to do so. If the same core group falls short on an annual basis, it may be time to split them up. 

The Utah Jazz appear to be at that juncture. They already made the decision to trade Rudy Gobert.

Furthermore, the pick-heavy package they received in exchange for Gobert suggests that they would at least entertain rebuilding.
