Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal

Lately, all eyes are on the New York Knicks – and no, that’s not because of a potential Maxi Kleber acquisition. 

At this point, it will be a surprise if the Knicks don’t swing a trade for Donovan Mitchell. Assuming they do, this trade would benefit them in a couple of ways. 

Firstly, they’re landing a quality veteran in Kleber. He’s a combo big who spaces the floor to an extent and can guard the perimeter and the interior. He’ll complement Mitchell nicely.

Furthermore, assuming they do trade Mitchell, they’ll be parting with a lot of draft capital in doing so. Mitchell is worth the price, but this trade helps them restock the cupboard, if only slightly.

They’ll still be draft poor, but if all goes well with Mitchell, they won’t be concerned with that for a long time.
