Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Kelly Oubre Jr., F/C P.J. Washington
Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Myles Turner

Speaking of awkward situations, the Indiana Pacers basically have to trade Myles Turner, don’t they?

It’s bad enough that he’s had his name in trade rumors for years. This summer, the Pacers made a max rookie extension offer to Deandre Ayton. The Suns matched it, leaving Turner, in theory, to remain the Pacers’ starting big man.

Still, the organization just signaled its intention to move him. That can’t be good for morale. With Turner due to hit free agency next summer, they can’t be feeling great about their odds of retaining him.

This deal gets them some value for him before they lose him for nothing. Furthermore, the 23-year-old Washington should be a perfect long-term fit with this rebuilding club. His ability to space the floor from either the 4 or the 5 spot will make life easier on franchise cornerstone Tyrese Haliburton.
