Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
As it stands, the Jazz seem intent on hoarding draft capital. Having received four first-round picks for Rudy Gobert, that seems to be their best path forward.
Having said that, teams don’t surrender first-round picks easily. They’re the currency of the modern NBA, and teams would prefer to ensure that they’re well-spent.
Bojan Bogdanovic probably won’t command an unprotected first-rounder on his own. He’s a very good player. Bogey is one of the league’s most reliable floor spacers, and he can create his own shot when called upon to as well.
On the other hand, he’s 33, a weak defender and on an expiring contract. Any team landing Bogdanovic is landing a rental, which will change their willingness to forfeit assets.
