Phoenix Suns To Trade Jae Crowder, Dario Saric?

Phoenix Suns, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Phoenix Suns are looking to make a major splash this offseason. They have been connected to Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets in NBA trade rumors as they were one of two teams, along with the Miami Heat, that were on his reported list of preferred landing spots.

While that has been the headline grabber and focus of the Suns’ offseason rumors, that is far from the only trade negotiations that they have held. Before matching the offer sheet that Deandre Ayton agreed to with the Indiana Pacers, the Suns were discussing sign-and-trade options and hoping he could be part of the package to land Durant.

Those negotiations became more difficult with Ayton signing an offer sheet, as he cannot be traded until January 15th. The team’s salary is also skyrocketing with his $133 million deal being added to the books over the next four seasons and things could continue getting more expensive.

Cam Johnson will be next for an extension and his deal could also be quite pricey. As a result, Phoenix is looking to move on from two of their veteran wing players according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

“The Suns’ accounting has gotten quite expensive, and league personnel still categorize Jae Crowder and Dario Saric as trade candidates entering this season to clear necessary wiggle room on Phoenix’s books.”

Jae Crowder has been mentioned as a possible trade candidate for a few contenders around the league such as the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics. Dario Saric missed the entire 2021-22 season after tearing his ACL in Game 1 of the 2021 NBA Finals and could help bolster a team’s frontcourt rotation should a deal be found.

Jae Crowder is owed $10,183,800 in the final season of his three-year deal. Saric is also on an expiring contract and is owed $9.24 million for the upcoming season. A team such as the San Antonio Spurs or Indiana Pacers, that possess some cap space, could take them on with draft compensation attached if the Suns don’t want to bring back any salary.
