This Pelicans-Nets Trade Sends Kevin Durant To New Orleans

Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans, NBA Trade Rumors

When it comes to hypothetical trade packages in exchange for Kevin Durant, a lot of the focus has been on a limited number of teams. Despite at least half of the NBA reaching out to the Brooklyn Nets, the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors are the only teams that have been mentioned as potential landing spots.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were one team that the Nets reached out to with a proposal, but it was turned down. Brooklyn reportedly asked for Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and draft picks for the former league MVP.

The asking price for Durant is very high, but that isn’t surprising. Despite some injury concerns, he remains one of the best players in the NBA despite going on 34 years old. Another unique wrinkle is his contract, as Durant has four years remaining on his deal that are all guaranteed.

That is something that many teams would benefit from as they know they will have Durant entrenched in the lineup for years to come. Teams not immediately mentioned as suitors for Durant, such as organizations in smaller markets, may be more willing to pay a premium price knowing he is locked in long-term.

One interesting landing spot for him should more teams get involved is the New Orleans Pelicans. It is an organization that is used to players asking for a trade to leave them, not bringing on superstars.

It would certainly be shocking to see Durant end up in The Big Easy, but they can certainly build an intriguing package. What could a deal between the Nets and Pelicans look like? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical trade between the teams.
