Atlanta Hawks: Clint Capela
A lot of observers would have John Collins pegged for a trade. Fair enough. His name has been in trade rumors for what feels like the bulk of his career.
With that said, the Hawks just acquired Dejounte Murray. He’s a great player, but there will be concerns about this team’s spacing with him in the backcourt. Collins’ frontcourt spacing has a new value. Meanwhile, the Hawks should be incentivized to move Capela to clear the lane for the younger Onkeya Onkongwu.
Boston Celtics: Grant Williams
Arguably, the Boston Celtics don’t need to trade anyone. This roster is solid throughout. This roster may be set after an NBA Finals appearance and having already acquired Malcolm Brogdon.
Still, this team would get good value for Grant Williams. At 23, rebuilding teams will be interested in him. If the Celtics can get a win-now upgrade for him, they ought to entertain it.
Brooklyn Nets: Kyrie Irving
Is it appropriate to use “LOL” in this space?
The Nets are the epicenter of the NBA at the moment. It’s difficult to say who may be on his roster at the beginning of 2022-23. With that said, they should move Irving. His volatility has seemingly infected this organization. It’s time to move on.
Charlotte Hornets: Terry Rozier
Terry Rozier is a good player. That is not the issue here.
He’s also aging and fairly expensive. His long-term contract may not be tenable for the Hornets anymore. With a LaMelo Ball rookie extension pending and a number of young players with high upside on this roster, they’re going to need the salary space. Rozier gets the nod over Gordon Hayward here because his contract runs twice as long.

Chicago Bulls: Nikola Vucevic
The Bulls were a tough call. There was a real temptation to go with Patrick Williams here just by virtue of the fact that he’ll have considerably more trade value.
With that said, Williams was injured for much of 2021-22. The Bulls should avoid selling low. On the other hand, they could probably use a better defensive big man than Vucevic. Clearing the lane for a better rim protector could be a wise decision ahead of 2022-23.

Cleveland Cavaliers: Caris LeVert
Caris LeVert is a talented player. He’s capable of creating shots for himself and his teammates at a high level. With that said, he’s also a complicated one.
LeVert is prone to bouts of inefficiency. He’s ball-dominant and doesn’t provide much value if he doesn’t have the rock. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have plenty of players who thrive with the ball and do it more efficiently. The Cavs might benefit from moving LeVert for a stronger off-ball threat.
