The Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Looking to improve the roster right now, the Lakers acquire veteran wing player Alec Burks from the Pistons. Burks was acquired by Detroit from the New York Knicks earlier this offseason, along with Nerlens Noel, two second-round picks and $6 million, as the Knicks were clearing cap space to sign Jalen Brunson in free agency.
In exchange for Burks, the Pistons are going to receive Talen Horton-Tucker, who possesses a lot of potential but the Lakers are not in a position to help him develop and realize it. Along with him, the Lakers attach a 2023 second-round pick via the Chicago Bulls.
