Utah Jazz Receive: G/F Evan Fournier, G/F RJ Barrett, 2023 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2024 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2025 First-Round Pick (MIL via NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
In deciding between these packages, the Utah Jazz could ask themselves the question in a different light:
Is RJ Barrett worth two first-round picks?
In all likelihood, he is. This is a player who’s already averaged 20 points per game at the NBA level. Furthermore, at 22, he’s still got room to grow. Even if he doesn’t, in simple terms, the average draft prospect never hits the level that Barrett already has.
At the same time, the Knicks will be aware of that too. They may be apprehensive about weakening their roster. After all, they’re acquiring Mitchell to win games now, and Barrett is already developed enough to aid that cause.
