Kevin Durant rumors continue to dominate the NBA world. The Brooklyn Nets have yet to receive any offer that they like, as teams are falling well short of their asking price. One of the most active teams in those trade rumors has been the Phoenix Suns.
The Suns were one of two teams that were on Durant’s list of preferred landing spots, along with the Miami Heat. Miami is the most determined team to land him, but their packages aren’t getting anyone to the negotiating table. Phoenix is where many people within the NBA believe Durant wants to be, which has led to underwhelming trade offers being presented to the Nets.
It is something that Brian Windhorst recently touched on during an episode of Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast. Teams are presenting the Nets with an offer and leaving it at that.
“I think the other teams have said, ‘Brooklyn, here is our offer. I don’t have any incentive to raise our offer because I know nobody else is raising theirs. I think that is what Indiana was trying to catch them in. Indiana was trying to catch them in that.”

Windhorst is skeptical that the Suns will be able to put together a trade package on their own that Brooklyn will be interested in. Other teams are in the same boat and things aren’t getting any clearer for the Suns.
Phoenix’s pursuit of Durant became much more difficult on Thursday when Deandre Ayton signed an offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers. He signed the largest offer sheet in NBA history, agreeing to a four-year, $133 million deal that the Suns matched a few hours later.
That is one more trade piece off the table in negotiations with the Nets as Ayton landed the max contract he and his representation knew they could get. The Suns are reportedly holding back other assets as well.

Later on in the podcast, Windhorst revealed that Mikal Bridges hasn’t been offered in any deal for Durant. He added that their full allotment of draft picks and swaps had not been offered, either.
It is a bit surprising to hear the Suns didn’t put in too aggressively of an offer as they were considered the favorites. However, given how lacking the other packages have been from teams around the league, it is not surprising that Phoenix isn’t sending their best offer over to the Nets right off the bat either.
