New York Knicks Receive: G/F Matisse Thybulle, F/C Paul Reid
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G/F Cam Reddish
That brief retrospective of Cam Reddish’s career to date got us thinking: what is the best environment for a young player to develop in?
Some will say that prospects are better off getting drafted to the league’s basement dwellers. It gives them a direct pipeline from the frying pan into the fire. The faster they’re a centerpiece in an NBA offense, the more quickly they’ll actually be suited for that role.
Others would say a more gradual approach is optimal. That argument would hold that taking on a smaller role on a winning team will instill more good habits that a prospect will eventually use if they’re ready for a more featured role.
It’s an interesting debate. It’s also not one that Reddish has really helped us conclude yet.
