Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Patrick Beverley, G Jordan Clarkson
Utah Jazz Receive: G Collin Sexton, F Dylan Windler
Like the Houston Rockets, the Utah Jazz already roster a player whose toes Collin Sexton could step on. Unlike the Rockets, he’s not certain to be a part of their future.
Surely, you’ve heard the Donovan Mitchell trade rumors. They’re all over the internet. Could the Jazz be interested in replacing him with a player two years his junior this summer?
Not directly, of course. Mitchell’s value is significantly higher than Sexton’s. Still, if the Utah Jazz could find a suitable trade for Mitchell elsewhere, having acquired Sexton to fill his role feels like a sensible move.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers significantly improve their guard depth with this trade. In all likelihood, Beverley would get the starting nod alongside Darius Garland given his ability to cover up for the star guard’s defensive deficiencies.

That would allow Clarkson to continue functioning in his natural sixth man role. Granted, it’s hard to say what this deal does for Caris LeVert’s position with the Cavs: it may necessitate trading him elsewhere. No matter. The Cavs are at a stage in their development where too much talent is a problem worth dealing with.
