On the subject of draft capital, the New York Knicks have a lot of it. Across the entire NBA, only the Oklahoma City Thunder boast a larger collection. Otherwise, the Pelicans rival the Knicks’ stockpile, and nobody else is approaching it.
With that in mind, could they be willing to spare some?
If so, Tyler Herro might be a suitable trade target for this organization. At 22, the league’s reigning Sixth Man of the Year has still got star upside. If he shows some chemistry with new point guard Jalen Brunson this season, the Knicks will have no trouble offering him a large extension next summer.
As for the Miami Heat, they could certainly use that 2023 first-rounder. In contrast to the Knicks, they’ve gotten quite low in terms of draft reserves. This deal restocks the cupboard to an extent while potentially keeping them competitive with the additions of Randle and Reddish.

As with any team landing Randle, they’d be taking a gamble. Still, a bounceback year from him could actually find the Miami Heat improving on their 2021-22 performance while improving their future assets in the process.
