3. Golden State Warriors Sign Donte DiVincenzo
Every organization in the NBA ultimately shares the same goal: to win an NBA championship. Anything else that happens along the way is secondary.
There are very few negatives associated with hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy. With that said, one downside is the platform it gives to an organization’s key players. When one of those guys is a pending free agent, you increase your odds of losing them.
Such was the case with Gary Payton II in the Warriors’ 2021-22 title run. The Portland Trail Blazers scooped up the defensive guard on a deal the Warriors couldn’t afford to match. With that said, they didn’t waste time landing a capable replacement in Donte Divincenzo.
Like Warren, Divincenzo was injured throughout much of 2021-22. As such, he was affordable to a cap-strapped team like the Warriors. He’ll replace much of Payton II’s defensive energy while actually improving the team’s floor-spacing.

As long as he can stay healthy, he’ll be helping the rich get richer in 2022-23.
