Why The Brooklyn Nets Make The Deal

Partly, the Brooklyn Nets make this deal to start over. They’re trying to wash away the sour taste that’s in their mouths.

Granted, Simmons didn’t put it there. He’s been injured since the Nets acquired him. With that said, there was a little controversy around whether he was healthy enough to suit up for the playoffs. Either way, he did not.

The Nets feel likely to put an emphasis on players who reliably show up this summer. They’re probably finished with guys they can’t rely on. Perhaps that’s unfair to Simmons, but he’ll have every opportunity to prove that in Chicago.

Meanwhile, Ball, as mentioned, has developed into an elite 3-and-D guard. Unlike Simmons, he can play alongside anybody. The exact same can be said for Caruso.
