NBA Analysis Network

Every year there are a few veteran players that wait for the dust to settle in NBA free agency before they decide which team they want to sign with. They usually bide their time, seeing which organization will present them the best chance to check the most boxes, whether it be playing time, comfortability for family or chances of winning a ring.

One player that is going through that process this year is Carmelo Anthony. Anthony has had quite a career renaissance the last few seasons after seemingly being blackballed from the league following a 10-game stint with the Houston Rockets during the 2018-19 campaign.

A lot of slander was thrown his way as people said he wasn’t willing to sacrifice to win, whether that meant coming off the bench or getting fewer touches per game. That couldn’t be further from the truth, as Anthony is a gamer and lost more than a year of his career for really no reason.

The Portland Trail Blazers took a chance on him during the 2019-20 season and the results were positive. He transitioned to a bench role the next season and excelled as his scoring prowess has not dissipated.
