Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
The Washington Wizards, as currently constructed, are very reminiscent of those same recent Orlando Magic teams.
They might make the playoffs in 2022-23. They might but. On the other hand, nobody expects them to play for the NBA championship. In fact, it would be quite a surprise if they won a playoff series.
That’s essentially the same outlook we’ve had for the Wizards during every offseason for some time. With such an obviously limited ceiling, it’s time they try something new. In other words, it’s time to rebuild.
This is a quality package for them if did decide to go that route. They’re receiving two 24-year-olds with high upside, a valuable 23-year-old rotation player, and three first-round picks. If either Fultz or Isaac hit their ceilings, this will look like a brilliant decision in hindsight.

If they don’t? At least the Wizards were bold. That’s something we haven’t been able to say about this organization in quite some time.
