The New York Knicks entered the 2022 NBA offseason coming off a disappointing campaign. After earning the No. 4 seed during the 2020-21 season, they were unable to replicate that level of success in the 2021-22 campaign.
New York finished with a record of 37-45, finishing in a tie for 11th place with the Washington Wizards and missing the NBA Play-In Tournament. They knew that some changes had to be made to the roster to get things back on track, so the front office got to work.
Leon Rose got things started in the 2022 NBA Draft. The Knicks owned the No. 11 overall pick but traded it to the Oklahoma City Thunder for three future first-round picks.
Then, he pulled off what many people thought would be impossible, finding a taker for Kemba Walker.

Walker was traded to the Detroit Pistons in a three-team deal that also included the Charlotte Hornets. New York came away with a 2025 first-round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks in the deal, sending out four future second-round picks.
That wasn’t the last trade that they made with the Pistons, as they traded Alec Burks and Nerlens Noel to Detroit as well in a salary dump. Two future second-round picks and $6 million cash were included in the deal.

The heavy lifting of the offseason is now done, but there is still some work to do. Here are three late offseason moves that the New York Knicks need to consider in the coming days and weeks.
