3. Brooklyn Nets
There is a lot going on with the Brooklyn Nets right now as they are figuring out what to do with Kevin Durant following his trade request. The team is looking for a haul in return for him and it is anyone’s guess what the roster will look like if a trade is consummated.
In addition to Durant, Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry and Joe Harris have had their names mentioned in some trade rumors as well. The team also lost Bruce Brown, Andre Drummond and Goran Dragic in free agency. Thus far, they have acquired Royce O’Neale in a trade, signed T.J. Warren and Edmond Sumner and re-signed Patty Mills and Nicolas Claxton.
There is a bit of a need for the Nets to sign another guard even before considering Irving’s potential departure via trade. If Dennis Schroder is looking for a team that he could break into the starting lineup to rehab his value, the Nets could be the landing spot for him.
Even if Irving remains on the Nets, it is a good bet that he will miss a chunk of games, as he has played in only 103 games in three seasons with the Nets. Schroder could step into a bench role alongside Mills in the backcourt, providing the team with a steady scoring option on the second unit at the very least.

But, there could be a lot of competition, especially if the Nets can receive the kind of package they are hoping for in return for Durant. The Nets also have their full taxpayer’s mid-level exception that is worth about $6.5 million that they could use.
