At this point in the summer, fans are getting excited about seeing some of the young guys participate in the NBA Summer League. It will be the first time to see them in game action with their teammates against some of the other up-and-coming bright stars around the league.

But, for the Denver Nuggets, it is a veteran that is garnering the most attention in their Summer League preparations. That is because veteran point guard Jamal Murray has been there and participating in practice with the team.

Murray missed the entire 2021-22 season as he recovered from an ACL tear that he suffered on April 12th, 2021. There was some optimism that he would return for the team’s playoff run, but they just ran out of time to get him up to speed.

Now, he will be focused on being 100 percent healthy for the beginning of the 2022-23 season. Right now, all signs point toward him being good to go. He has looked great during NBA Summer League practices according to Jontay Porter, who is back with the summer Nuggets after battling an injury of his own last season.

“He looked great,” Porter said, via Denver Post. “His jumper is as amazing as ever. He’s moving really well, too, especially coming from a guy who’s had ACL injuries as well.”

In addition to Murray, the Nuggets were also without Michael Porter Jr. for all but nine games as he underwent another procedure on his back. Jontay is Michael’s younger brother and has said that he has also looked great in his rehab.

Having both of them back in the lineup alongside back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic will help push the Denver Nuggets toward the level of the other contenders in the league. Without them, the Nuggets still qualified for the postseason, but with them, they will be a handful to deal with.
