The Memphis Grizzlies received some unfortunate news this summer. Jaren Jackson Jr. is likely to miss the bulk of the 2022-23 NBA season with an injury.
Realistically, it’s unlikely to change their long-term outlook. It may, however, factor into how they approach the upcoming season.
They probably won’t make any major changes. Jackson Jr. is young. The smartest move may be to focus on retooling for the 2023-24 season. They’d be playing with house money in 2022-23.
With that said, the smart move isn’t always the fun one. If the Grizzlies wanted to upset the NBA’s pecking order, they’ve got plenty of assets to do so.
