4. Boston Celtics Reload
The Boston Celtics entered the 2022 offseason with a very solid roster. There wasn’t much that needed adjusting as they had just played in the NBA Finals, losing to the Golden State Warriors in six games.
No one would have blamed them for just running it back with the same group as they were the best team in the NBA in the second half of the season. However, they didn’t rest on their laurels. Brad Stevens got right back to work and continued upgrading the roster.
Boston dipped into free agency, signing Danilo Gallinari after the Spurs waived him. That is a nice upgrade for the frontcourt as Gallinari is instant offense off the bench and can spread the floor with his 3-point shooting.
The Celtics also made a huge upgrade to their backcourt by acquiring Malcolm Brogdon from the Indiana Pacers. Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Malik Fitts, Nik Stauskas and Juwan Morgan are heading to Indiana, along with a 2023 first-round pick.

Brogdon provides Boston with another ball-handler and playmaker to help take some pressure off of and complement Marcus Smart. Standing 6’5” with a 6’11” wingspan, Brogdon can be deployed as a wing in some situations as well, helping spell Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, too.
