Warriors Stars, Kevin Durant Discuss Potential Golden State Reunion

Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant, NBA Trade Rumors

Here we go again. It was six years ago, on the fourth of July when Kevin Durant made his decision to join the Golden State Warriors in NBA free agency. Now, the Nets star requested a trade this past week and the Warriors remain a possibility.

The one main reason why this is even considered a possibility is because the Warriors can put together an enticing package to acquire Durant. Some of the players they might consider trading are Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga, and James Wiseman.

The Nets made it clear they want a “young star” and three first-round picks for any deal involving Durant. Golden State would be able to reach that price if they want to mortgage their future for the present. Coming off of another championship the Warriors certainly do not need Durant but he would make them seemingly unstoppable for the next few seasons at least.

Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic reported that conversation has taken place between the Warriors’ stars and Durant, with the topic of a potential reunion being mentioned.

“The Warriors superstars have been in conversations with Durant. In addition to catching up, the Hall of Fame-bound peers did entertain the idea of a reunion. It was mostly about the stunning nature of it even being possible.”

You would be crazy not to at least call Brooklyn and see what they want for Durant. So this may be the Warriors doing their due diligence. Some of the other teams that have shown interest in Durant are the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. Yet, it appears that Brooklyn has not been interested in either of those teams’ trade packages.

“Sources made it clear they are fine defending their title with Wiggins, Poole, and the young players they’ve been grooming to win with them. But if the universe somehow sets it up so legends reunite, they’d be open to it.”

It still seems unlikely that Kevin Durant returns to his former team. The price seems a little too steep. But, if this situation drags out and Durant remains unhappy, then watch out for the Golden State Warriors to make this league-shaking move.
