Warriors Not Interested In Trade For Nets’ Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

When the news broke that Kevin Durant had requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, it started an NBA media firestorm. People began setting up mock trades trying to figure out where he could end up next.

He has preferred landing spots, with the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat reportedly being atop that list. However, the Nets are going to do what is best for their organization. Whichever team presents them with the best offer is the team that the Nets will do business with.

Reportedly half the team has already made a call to Brooklyn to see what it would take to get Durant from them. However, there is one team in the league that will not be engaging in trade talks with the Nets, and that is Durant’s former team, the Golden State Warriors. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report shared the update.

“The only team that NBA sources with knowledge of the situation have indicated is not a tangible option for Durant is Golden State. And the Warriors likely don’t have a package of win-now pieces that would strike Brooklyn’s interest anyhow.”

The Warriors may not have the win-now pieces Brooklyn would be seeking, but they would be able to build a very compelling package should they enter the fray. Every mock deal that has been put together involving them for All-Star caliber players can be applied to the Nets as well.

Andrew Wiggins and a host of high-upside young players would be in the deal. Lottery picks James Wiseman, Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga are a very intriguing package should Golden State have gotten involved in the Durant sweepstakes. Those players could help offset the lack of draft capital in Golden State, as the earliest they can part with a first-round pick is 2026.

Right about now, Kevin Durant is probably regretting his decision to leave the Golden State Warriors in the first place. He opted to leave as a free agent in 2019 and has already climbed back up to the mountain top, winning the 2022 NBA Finals. Durant, on the other hand, has only won one playoff series in three seasons with Brooklyn.
