Free Agency Will Be Quiet This Summer

This one is more of a leaguewide prediction. In reading the league’s landscape, it doesn’t feel like we’ll see a lot of earth-shattering decisions this summer.

We already covered Ayton, Beal, and Harden. We expect all three of them to remain with their 2021-22 teams. Zach LaVine is the biggest remaining name on the market, and he’s likely to do the same.

The Blazers will surely retain restricted free agent Anfernee Simons. Jalen Brunson will likely land on the Knicks, but everybody knows that already. Otherwise, the remaining players in this crop are role players.

Many of them will move, and it will have leaguewide significance. Still, those expecting internet-breaking headlines to come from free agency this summer should brace themselves for disappointment.
