Throughout the NBA offseason, we see plenty of positive stories. Players put in that extra time in the gym to improve their games and raise their production to the next level. Some cash in as free agents and receive huge paydays.
One of the players that were expected to land a lucrative contract this offseason was Miles Bridges. The four-year forward out of Michigan State is entering restricted free agency after he and the Charlotte Hornets were unable to agree to a rookie extension. Bridges reportedly turned down a four-year deal worth about $60 million, betting on himself.
It was a bet that he won, as he put up career-highs across the board during the 2021-22 season. Bridges averaged 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks in 35.5 minutes per game.
That put him in a position to potentially land a max contract this offseason that could be as long as five years and worth as much as $173 million. However, that may no longer be in play as Bridges has found himself in some hot water.
