Myles Turner
One of the reasons that the Toronto Raptors found success with their small-ball lineups is that their spacing worked on offense. They were methodical but could create mismatches to take advantage of. Having players that are willing 3-point shooters is a must, otherwise, teams can pack the paint and make things very difficult.
Finding a stretch-5 isn’t easy, but there is one that is readily available this offseason; Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers. Indiana has been shopping Turner for years and it feels like they are finally ready to pull the trigger on a deal.
The Raptors should get involved in the bidding as Myles Turner would be a great fit for their scheme. He won’t hurt their spacing on offense, which is key as he is a respectable 3-point shooter. But, most importantly, he fills their need for size in the middle.
Turner is more than capable of banging with centers on the interior, which the Raptors need more of. He is also an elite rim protector, as he not only blocks a ton of shots but alters even more. Turner is one of the toughest players to score on at the rim, providing the Raptors with an elite last line of defense.
