Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers need to revamp their backcourt in some capacity this offseason. Even if they are unable to move on from Russell Westbrook, they need to find some players that better fit around him, LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Malcolm Brogdon would be a great fit alongside that trio. His injury history is extensive, so the Lakers may be hesitant to bring him into the fold after how poorly things went last season in the injury department. But, beggars can’t be choosers and Brogdon could very well be the best that the Los Angeles Lakers can do.

Based solely on his skill set, Brogdon is a perfect fit for this roster. On offense, he can excel as a spot-up shooter and play off of his superstar teammates. Whenever they are out of the game, he is more than capable of running the offense as the lead facilitator. Having another capable playmaker in the mix can only help the Los Angeles Lakers.

His biggest asset will be his defense. Westbrook was a sieve more often than not last season and the team didn’t have the players to overcome that. Brogdon is a stout defender that would be capable of sticking with the opponent’s No. 1 option on the perimeter every night.

His size and length would enable Darvin Ham to deploy Davis at the center spot because Brogdon is capable of defending wing players as well. Versatility like that is key.

Indiana has turned down Los Angeles Lakers’ trade offers already this offseason, so acquiring him could prove difficult. But, they should continue making offers and try finding a deal that works for both sides as Brogdon would be a nice upgrade in the backcourt.
