Washington Wizards
There may not be a team in the NBA with as big of a need at the point guard spot as the Washington Wizards. Right now, there isn’t a player on the roster with a guaranteed contract for the 2022-23 season at the position. Ish Smith has a non-guaranteed deal, while Tomas Satoransky and Raul Neto are both free agents.
Finding a point guard should be atop the team’s to-do list this offseason. With free agency potentially looming for Bradley Beal as well, the team should be aiming high when it comes to filling the position.
There arguably isn’t a better point guard available than Dejounte Murray. He would be a perfect complement to Beal in the backcourt and it would be the type of move that shows Beal that the organization is serious about building a winner.
Murray nearly averaged a triple-double last season, averaging 21.2 points, 9.2 assists and 8.3 rebounds per game. That level of playmaking would make life so much easier for Beal and the likes of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma.

His defense would be a perfect fit alongside Beal as well, providing Washington with someone that can slow down an opponent at the point of attack and disrupt their offense early in the shot clock.
The draft capital isn’t as readily available for the Washington Wizards as the New Orleans Pelicans. They don’t have a first-round pick in 2023 but do own all of theirs going forward after that. Rui Hachimura, Deni Avdija, Johnny Davis, and Corey Kispert are players on rookie deals that could pique the Spurs’ interest.
