This deal finds the Chicago Bulls landing hometown hero Anthony Davis. It wasn’t so long ago that some expected him to end up in the red-and-black anyway.
When Anthony Davis was a Pelican, and clearly aiming to find his way out of town, many observers expected him to land on the Bulls. Evidently, he found his way to the Lakers instead.
It would be hard to say we’re correcting the mistakes of the past here. Davis would go on to win an NBA championship with the Lakers. Still, if he’s pining for his hometown Windy City, he’ll welcome this deal.
The Bulls would probably welcome him in turn. Last year, Vucevic’s subpar rim protection was consistently a problem for this team. If Davis is healthy, he’ll remedy that issue.

Speaking of Vooch, if anyone is likely to protest this trade, he may be that person. In all likelihood, he’d be in for an extended paid vacation in Oklahoma City. They’re strictly doing this deal for the draft capital. It’s the same reason they’d do the next one.
