As the NBA’s offseason unfolds, several star players will find their names in trade rumors. With so much speculation, it’s hard to confidently say which player has the most rumors surrounding them.
With that said, if you had to pick a player at the moment, you’d probably pick Kyrie Irving.
Apparently, the Nets recently granted the mercurial point guard permission to go seek his own sign-and-trade. It appears that his tenure with the team is effectively over.
The trust between the two sides is probably eroded. Irving has developed a reputation for regular, unexcused absences from basketball over recent years. If the Nets have had enough, nobody could realistically hold that against them.

With that said, Irving has a player option. He could opt out and become an unrestricted free agent this summer. With him having that leverage, the Nets’ best bet is to orchestrate a sign-and-trade for Irving.
