The Brooklyn Nets head into the NBA offseason in complete disarray. Kyrie Irving seems unhappy playing in Brooklyn. Similarly, the Nets front office does not seem thrilled with having him on their roster. The potential departure of Irving could leave Kevin Durant to consider his future in Brooklyn as well.

If Durant decides he wants out of Brooklyn, it is safe to assume the 29 other teams will check in to see what the asking price is for the Nets.

According to ESPN insider Zach Lowe, teams were getting ready for massive trade offers in the event Kevin Durant were to become available.

“I can tell you this. This is what teams are doing. Teams are already operating under, not the assumption, but ‘we need to prepare for the contingency that Kevin Durant is available via trade in six days or seven days.’ … The whole league is now.”

Any potential trade that would involve Durant would have to be a blockbuster. He would want to go to a team where he could compete for a championship.

But, adding a player like Durant to most teams would immediately make them title contenders. The recruiting has already begun as Damian Lillard posted this photo to his Instagram story,

Lillard paired with Durant would create one of the best duos in the league. But, the chances of Durant wanting to play in Portland are probably slim. The closer we get to free agency which begins on Thursday the more noise we will hear about a potential deal.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst also reported that the Nets would “rather lose both” Irving and Durant than go through the mess that they went through in 2021. No matter how the front office feels about Irving you would think they would do whatever it takes to keep Durant happy.

For now, things could be cooling down with Irving deciding to exercise his $36.5 million players. If anything changes, teams will be ready to trade for Durant.
