Making the Case: Atlanta Hawks
A franchise typically will look to cater to what their superstar talent wants, especially after they come up short in a disappointing fashion. This is the reality for the Atlanta Hawks and Trae Young after their early postseason exit at the hands of the Miami Heat.
The Hawks need to get better defensively but they also have to add another viable ball-handling talent that can take some pressure off Young.
Hawks coach Nate McMillan made clear after the season that Young will need to adjust his game by becoming more of an off-ball mover. Again, a secondary initiator is needed to be able to allow Young to play more off-ball and be deployed in actions.
Dejounte Murray isn’t the best spot-up shooter so there will be situations where he is taking open looks but they may not drop. However, he’s crafty at getting to the rim and could benefit from not being the focus of the opposition’s game-planning efforts.
