After all, Kristaps Porzingis is, in theory, the perfect complement for Simmons. He’s exactly the type of stretch five he needs to thrive as a non-shooting lead ball-handler.

On the defensive end, the two are a sensible pairing as well. Porzingis is an effective defender, but he’s also a limited one. He protects the rim well, but he’s fairly limited to drop coverage.

Luckily, Simmons has the type of defensive versatility to cover up for those limitations.
